Mental Health Therapies
Mental health therapy is a supportive and collaborative process that helps people navigate challenges, build resilience, and improve emotional well-being. It isn’t one-size-fits-all—in fact, there are many different types of therapy designed to meet different needs.
Some approaches focus on how our thoughts shape our feelings and behaviors, like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). Others, such as Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), offer skills for managing emotions, improving relationships, and staying grounded during distress.
Everyone’s path looks different: what works for one person may not be the best fit for another. And often, people benefit from more than one approach depending on what they’re working through, how they learn best, or what goals they’re setting for themselves.
At Blue Star Mental Health, each patient receives an individualized treatment plan. Every plan includes the therapies best suited to help you explore, heal, and grow—at your own pace
Therapies
Individual Therapy
Individual therapy at Blue Star Mental Health is all about you and your journey. Whether you’re dealing with depression, anxiety, or another of life’s curveballs, our outpatient therapy and intensive outpatient program (IOP) give you the space to work it out. No fluff, no filler—just real talk and real progress. If quality one-on-one therapy in New Jersey is what you’re looking for, Blue Star Mental Health is where you should be.
Group Therapy
Group mental health therapy at Blue Star Mental Health brings people together to tackle anxiety, depression, and other challenges. There’s strength in numbers, tackling a mental health disorder doesn’t seem as daunting when you’re with others on a similar journey. Even if you’re shy or the sort of person who’s not a ‘joiner’, you will absolutely benefit from group mental health therapy. All it takes is willingness.
Family Therapy
Family therapy at Blue Star Mental Health brings everyone to the table. Parents, siblings, partners. Why? One reason is that mental health disorders affect the entire family unit. Involving the family almost always leads to better outcomes and more complete healing.
CBT
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, or CBT, is a practical, hands-on approach in mental health therapy. It’s goal-focused and zeroes in on the link between your thoughts, emotions, and behaviors, especially the ones you want to change. At Blue Star Mental Health, our outpatient therapy and intensive outpatient program (IOP) utilize CBT to help you tackle depression, manage anxiety, and build powerful skills that stick.
DBT
Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is an evidence-based psychotherapy developed by Marsha Linehan in the late 1980s. Based on CBT principles and blended with mindfulness practices, DBT targets intense emotional dysregulation by teaching skills for acceptance and change.
At Blue Star Mental Health, we use DBT to empower clients to build resilience and foster meaningful, balanced relationships, and that’s just the beginning!
